I got these the other day. I'm usually the first one at the office. And it sure paid off the other day!
The second person through the door had these items. The third person to arrive never got the chance to see them, because I snagged them up quickly!
    :D
I got a barely even opened sampler size (a quart, I think) of "red barn" paint.

And an adorable lightswitch cover that I placed at the back door of the utility room that leads to the garage/storage building. (Note to self... clean the lightswitch for goodness sakes!)

And a super-cute pair of bookends. I instantly knew that they wouldn't be used as bookends and would find their way into the garden somehow.

So, they are on the shelves on both sides of my potting stand. In front of the containers with the Baby Sunroses.

Wow, I want to visit your office. The paint will come in very handy with all the things you make, the lightswitch cover is adorable and if those bookends disappear some night don't worry about it. ;)

Great "saves" Careful with the light switch. I have one and I continually hurt my fingers on it. Of course I am never looking right at the switch when I go to flip it, but I get hung up on it every time. you would think I would have learned the first time it happened to stop, look and flip , but, no not me...always in a hurry to go from the laundry room to the kitchen.

Well it certainly pays off to be first in your office doesn't it? What great items you have there. I especially like those bookends. :-D

Toni... That paint will be used pretty soon. Maybe I should save some to make a sign... "Toni... step away from the bookends!"

Carolyn... That light switch goes to a big "street light" in the back yard.. which MIGHT get used twice a year. I have a solar flood light that shines on the back steps... usually plenty enough light to go back and forth.

Thank you Eileen. Lately, I feel like my co-workers are bringing all these neat things, just to stay on my good side. Hey... I'm not above bribery!

You are a magnet for the good stuff. Does this mean you are going to paint the town red? :) Nice alternative use for the bookends.

Deanna... I got a start of the Baby Sunroses from one of my aunts (how many of my postings start with "one of my aunts"???)
Anyhow... A few years back I got a piece of this from her. It was ID'd here as an Ice Plant. Which is one of it's common names. But when I sent some to Toni, she mentioned that it wasn't like the Ice Plant she knew (Delosperma cooperi (Hardy Ice Plant)
But the flowers are pretty much the same.
The one I have, Aptenia cordifolia (Heartleaf Iceplant, Baby Sunrose) can be found on the GS database here. Aptenia cordifolia (Heartleaf Iceplant, Baby Sunrose)
Pretty little flower and the plant needs no protection during our zone 9a winters. And since I can't remember the Latin names of plants, I now refer to it at the Baby Sunrose to avoid confusion with the "other" Ice Plant. Besides... Baby Sunrose just sounds so much cuter!

Jerry... give me a couple of weeks and you'll see what I have in mind for the paint. It won't be the whole town that gets painted... but a very important part of it.

Cheryl, I keep thinking I will move the switch elsewhere, but I don't have anywhere with only one switch and I don't want to hurt my sisters feelings by taking it down....so it stays right where it is at. You on the other hand have a great place for it...not an everyday one. It is darling, too. A great place for the bookend, I would have never thought to repurpose it to the garden, silly me.

Thanks Carolyn! Since I've joined this forum, whenever I see anything... I think of how it could be used in the garden. :-D
