On the way home, we came across a Hindu Temple and stopped to take picture. We could go inside, but couldn't take pics inside. According to the pamphlet, there are over 34,000 hand carved pieces in the temple and it is all marble.

Wow, you really get a sense of how powerful the heron's beak is in that picture on the nest. The terrain where you were is very interesting to me, esp in the egret shot. The temple is lovely -- where is that, CK? How did you choose to go to Georgia for vaca? Are you from there originally?

The temple is on the east side of Atlanta. We saw an article in Southern Living magazine and it gave the address. So I punched it into the GPS and it took us right to it. We have friends that live 30 miles south of Macon, Georgia. We first met them when we moved next door to them in Virginia Beach, Va. in 1969. We have gotten together every year or 2 ever since. They were hosts at the state park for 2 months, so we stayed in their 36 ft RV with them. Even though the fishing was bad, we had a great chance to catch up on things.

Gee that temple looks more like a palace to me - what wonderful architecture.
Great shots of the heron on the nest, egret and micking bird.
I hope someone can ID that lovely iris type flower for you as I'd like to know what it is too.
OK next batch of piccies please. :p

Lovely shots, Capt. :D I especially liked the temple and the blooms. I've seen that white iris lookalike here on the forums a couple of times, and with ID too, but just can't remember.

I'm so glad you had a good time.

Welcome back Capt, lovely photos as always. It's a pity you couldn't take photos inside the temple.

Hey CK -- I went to grad school in Norfolk -- lived there 5 years. Loved it. Of course, you were Navy! Glad you had fun with your pals.
