I love reading everyone's posts, but haven't had too much time to do more than that. Love seeing how all the gardens are so far into the gardening year. Here we have had a late spring, but have had a week of very nice weather. I am way behind on weeding and hedging, but once school is out I will attempt to catch up a little. Here is how we are looking at the moment starting with the front yard. Wild and full. Pacific bleeding hearts ( photo / image / picture from Jewell's Garden ) front yard blooms ( photo / image / picture from Jewell's Garden ) dwarf iris ( photo / image / picture from Jewell's Garden ) wild hyacinth ( photo / image / picture from Jewell's Garden ) Side yard plantings that are blooming Pacific trilliums ( photo / image / picture from Jewell's Garden ) primroses, mother of thousands, and Pacific bleeding hearts ( photo / image / picture from Jewell's Garden ) The backyard is where I spend the majority of my time. With the new renovations and window/door on the back gardens I think and plan even when I'm too tired to get out and do the work. view from my favorite chair ( photo / image / picture from Jewell's Garden ) path next to garden on right and house to left ( photo / image / picture from Jewell's Garden ) back flower bed from path by garden area ( photo / image / picture from Jewell's Garden ) woodland beds expanded (looking from upper half-lot of yard) ( photo / image / picture from Jewell's Garden ) first daylily to bloom, very fragrant (volunteer from seed) ( photo / image / picture from Jewell's Garden ) Brunnera macrophylla 'Variegata' ( photo / image / picture from Jewell's Garden ) Really hard to get good photo of these really BLUE flowers ( photo / image / picture from Jewell's Garden ) New doors on the new office/old garage. Where the clippers are is my shady seat ( photo / image / picture from Jewell's Garden ) I pulled a few bricks to plant tomatoes and scarlet runner beans. This is one of the few sunny spots in the back yard. Shade has taken over the majority of the backyard due to fir trees planted by the neighbors twenty years ago on the south side of our lot. The tree branches now hang over our property line by 20-30 feet and shade a lot of the yard most of the year. Opportunities for woodland gardening, but difficult for vegies and sun lovers in our typically cool, damp climate. Trellis for tomatoes and scarlet runner beans ( photo / image / picture from Jewell's Garden ) One of only 4 remaining living wreathes remaining ( photo / image / picture from Jewell's Garden ) old double sinks turned into planters ( photo / image / picture from Jewell's Garden ) I am trying to get as many of the plants of semps and sedums into the ground for less work/watering. hens and chicks and sedums and old drain tiles ( photo / image / picture from Jewell's Garden ) It is so nice to see all the green. The deciduous ferns are filling in and hints of color are arriving. green, green, green has arrived ( photo / image / picture from Jewell's Garden ) Happy gardening and thanks everyone for sharing your gardens too!
Thanks Tina, Cuatro-Gatros, deep woodsy and for the kind comments. I didn't take much time on the photos, and the collages are off, but give the over all impression of the yard. Barb, I love seeing everyone's posts, but spring has been late here and it's been hard to find time to do my own post. Have lots of perennials that should have lots of flowers this summer. This is the third year for my phlox, so I am expecting a nice show from them. Jerry, the sinks were a challenge. Heavy to move and then they were holding the water. I thought that I'd have to make them into bog gardens until I cracked them with a sledge hammer :-D Two more blueberry plants will hopefully do well in them. I spent the evening spreading the first bags of bark renewing the paths. Also spent time putting a few annuals in pots at the base of some of my grasses and potted trees. A few more annuals and seeds into bare spots. New Lily bulbs I will try to get into either pots or the ground tomorrow night. A gardeners' work is never done :-? It's always interesting to see how nature responds
Hi Jewell, i like your panoramic views,..well done,..it sure gives a better impression of your garden than the single picture. You have lots of nice blooms pictured and greenery filling up the garden,..i just had to smile trying to picture you with the sledge hammer.
Netty, it is nice now that the bare ground is almost all enveloped in green. Only a few bare spots to try some new plants. Cayuga and Philip, glad you enjoyed seeing the entire garden (it is cut and paste since I lost my old knitting program for panaroma photos). Hard to believe the year before I joined the stew there was still some grass/weeds. Now my husband has very little to mow and I have a lot more to weed :-? . We both enjoy the flowers and greenery though. Philip you never want to get inbetween a woman and her tools. I am wickedly good with them, or is it just wicked?
