We have a ski resort up island and this year had record snowfalls. I went up there yesterday for the flowers. In the past years I usually go in the third week in July and a lot of the flowers are finished. This year, with more snow, I went later. It was amazing that only the early flowers were out, most are still a couple of weeks away. Anyway, I took some of these early ones.

What a lovely selection of early wild flowers. I particularly like the mountain heathers (well I would I suppode coming from Scotland ;) ) The Mountain Shooting Star reminds me of cyclamen with its back facing petals. I wonder if there are seeds available here of Bog Laurel as they'd be a nice addition to the ground around our pond? I must ask my friends at the Scottish Wildflower Trust if they know of them.

They are all gorgeous. Great shots.
But I think my favorite just might be the one with the snow on the mountain!
    :-D

I would like to take a ramble around that area. The bog laurel looks very nice. Thanks for posting Kildale.

Beautiful photos Kildale, I've never visited the mountains or have seen flowers from the region. They are lovely.

Thank you for the messages. The snow was over a lot of the trails. This photo shows how the running water has cut a channel throu some that was right upto the path.

    Very nice flowers.
I also tried to grow dodecatheon. I think I had two very small seedlings in the garden. Will see next spring if they are not dadelions.
    They grow sooo slow.
    I also love that Kalmia...

    Nice blooms! :stew2:

Most of those plants are garden plants here, bar the Sickletop lousewort. It might be a garden plant here but I haven't seen it. We've got a couple of the Dodecathon - Shooting Star. One's purple like the one you're showing and one's smaller and white. They're very pretty perennials.
