My goal today is to move a beautiful yellow "Julia Child" rose to the front flower bed. She is kind of struggling where she's at now so I hope this move is a good thing! Deanna :-D
I don't know much about roses margie but I have been told that if you are moving them you must not plant them where another rose has been, ie: find a completely fresh place for them. Don't quite know why this is so but maybe some other Garden Stewers can let me know.
I think the reason they tell you to plant them where Roses haven't been before is because of disease Gardengirl. For example, Blackspot is a big problem for Roses and it stays in the soil for a very long time. If you planted a new Rose there, it's chances for survival wouldn't be good. I'm really not sure what time of year is best for moving Roses Margie, but my guess is that spring would be best.
I have heard the same thing and it is due to either fungus or something in the soil that would affect the new rose bush. I have one that is not getting enough sun I need to move in the spring. I hope it survives OK.
