An interesting vid if you like birds.
I have spoken about mumerations before, but this film shows it quite well in typical British fashion.

Amazing that all those birds don't bump into each other isn't it? A real life spectacle to be sure. :-D

    Glad you liked it, JEWELL.

It truly is EILEEN--I think that there is less that scientists know mumerations than they DON'T know about this phenomenon.

Yeah, I like them too, WARE.

Good CAYUGA--I hope that your friends like the film as well.

Cool, Sjoerd! We are just now starting to see flocks of birds gather once again in our area. Last night I saw one of the hugest flocks of birds I have ever seen. I am sure it stretched at least 1/2 mile long. I have no idea what they were since I was driving, but I have seen huge flocks of red wing black birds in the last couple days, but nothing the size of this. We don't have the murmurations going on here...at least I don't think they do it here.

Beautiful! I have witnessed Starling murmurations in much smaller numbers here over the hayfields. They move so quickly it is hard to get film/photos. It's hard NOT to watch when they are doing this!

    Sjoerd,
That is an awesome video! Thank you for posting. I love watching those scenes. We have small flocks of about 50 birds that do that around here, but nothing like that! It is so beautiful and amazing!
I've seen a similar video once where the birds were over the city, and although it was amazing to watch, the people were not happy with the mess.
I couldn't help but see the people walking along the path and think "I love watching the birds, but I wouldn't want to be walking under them."

Thank you for posting that link,Sjoerd it has reminded me about the two major murmurations we have had here in the past couple of years(although I didn't know the technical name then).

Truly a wonderful thing to see and experience. At one stage I was almost hanging out of an upstairs window to get a better view and the noise was overwhelming-but the thing that amazed me were the neighbours who arrived home, got out of their car and went straight indoors without even a glance at one of nature's most spectacular sights  .I also remember my dogs being spooked by the noise.

Keep your eyes open CAROLYN--Who knows when you will see one. I would be surprised if there wasn't a murmuration somewhere in the area near you. You might have to look for it though.

Glad thet you have been able to see some, NETTY--They are remarkable.

You are welcome BEEKER--Yes, if you are underneith them you could well be spattered. Most of the ones that I have seen have indeed been out in the country.

KM--That was surprising to hear. I can't imagine anyone not giving the phenomenon at least a glance.

I to love watching all those birds flying together. I looks like an ever changing art form. I wish they had a screen saver that would have that on it. God sure does like to surprise us in the neatest ways. :stew1:
