Found it in the dump pile of a neighbour. Thought the huge leaves looked too pretty to be overlooked. Back home, sis in law told me it could infest my yard by creeping up the wall and so I should be wary of it. That's undesirable but then, the leaves.... Is it why it was uprooted and thrown away? Maybe if I planted it in a huge container...? ( photo / image / picture from oubee's Garden )
If it's a climber, I don't think you'd need a big container as these plants use their long roots that grow along the stems as they climb up. But I could be wrong. I am far far away from where these plants grow. Maybe it's a Philodendron?
If it's a climber, then unless there's a way I can force it to remain as a down-to-earth (what's the term really? ) decorative plant, am getting rid of it in turn Confused Looks like this one : http://www.fitoland.hu/images/termek/el ... 1_vbig.jpg It's definitely some sort of Philodendron.
What a name I Googled it up, the roots are somewhat different. Can you post a pic of your plant, Cheryl?
I think it is a relative of Ralph. That is what my building calls the one we have. It sits next to the abandoned ficus in a no-man's-land in my office building. I actually think it is related to a philodendron, thus in the north is an indoor plant. I have seen them growing outdoors in Florida & being quite prolific there. The side bed at my parents' home was taken over by them.
Oubee... Here's the one that I have that I was told was called "mosquito plant"... supposedly help keeps mosquitos away (I've seen no evidence of that yet! ) Anyhow... here is mine to compare... Mosquito Plant ( photo / image / picture from cherylad's Garden )
