These raised beds are my pride and joy. A few years ago I was getting so tired of coming into the house aching from constantly getting up and down and crawling around on my knees that I decided to do something about it. So I thought these beds up and built them. it took me the better part of 3 years to get them all built, installed and filled with compost and soil. Each beds is 3 ft wide by 12 feet long by 17 inches tall, the same height as our kitchen chairs. I can sit on the side and easily reach the middle to plant, weed and harvest. No more bending and aching! The wonderful thing about raised beds like this is they keep all of your soil amendments such as compost, fertilizer and water right in one spot, concentrated on the plants rather than allowing them to spread throughout the garden and into paths. None of it is wasted. My next project is going to be burying water lines to each bed on 4 different lines so I can water the garden one row of beds at a time and have them on timers so I no longer have to arrange to have the garden water when we're on vacation. You have had a lot of work there, and it just looks good enough to eat, planks, trellises, planned water system and all. Fabulous looking veggie garden.
That is amazing. Lots of hard work to get them built, but the effort has paid off.Your garden looks beautiful. And when you get the water lines in, they will be working like a well oiled machine. Now if you could just figure out a way for the weeds to disappear! Good job.
Oh WOW you've done a wonderful job with those raised beds. Everything in them looks so lush and healthy. They are definately worth every minute of the time you spent constructing and setting them up. Once your irrigation system is set up it will certainly take the worry out of having to leave your beds while you are away from home.
Amazing, and what a lot of hard work went into developing such a lush garden. Great planning and development of a superb garden.
Now that is one lush and packed vegetable garden. The raised beds look great and I bet they help keep the pests off your plants also. Those zucchini plants are MASSIVE!
