I've seen pink, white, blue, purple and even green alliums Barb. I doubt if they shrink but it's possible that the flower heads are smaller due to adverse weather conditions. Whatever the size of yours they're still very pretty. :-D
So good to see them blooming. I got some bulbs last fall and planted them. Unfortuatedly I was in a hurry and didn't mark them. Now I don't know which are the ornamentals and which are the elephant garlic. :-? Guess I'll know when they bloom. Photos like yours are certainly what inspired me to want some in my own garden.
The Allium family is huge and they come in all colours except perhaps bright red. For our American cousins California is full of wonderful dwarf ones which I would love to be able to a. get and b. grow if I got them. They also come in all sizes from tiny 1 inch tall to those 3 foot giant ones. Some of them are very hard to grow and some are so easy they become garden weeds.
Palustris, I hope mine is the weedy kind. I like it when they are successful I haven't had the best of luck with my mail order and bareroot plants.
Anyone know the proceedure in digging them out ? I have 2 in another bed I can part with for Jewell if someone tells me when an how? LMK b
