    cactus

many years ago I sowed seeds indoors and all the cactus grew! They were so cool. I had to give them away because my daughter was just gettibg mobile and i didn't want her to get the pricleys in her. And my cat ,more thane once ended up with cactus needles in her nose. Not a pretty site.
never grew them back because of the animals.
    but they were easy

USian big box stores sell cactus mix. Locally you might find made to order soil.

Making your own soil for cactus (or bonsai) presumes you have graduated screens to sift througgh.

Cactus soil is quite fast draining. Mostly inert sand or gravel with some added (crushed) oyster shell, and bark mulch.
