We finished decorating my daughter's bedroom over the summer. She picked the colors and we both worked on the design. I'm really happy with how it turned out but my daughter thinks that maybe we should do something with the nightstand, dresser and maybe even headboard. She suggested painting them with the same colors we used on the wall but I'm worried it will end up being 'too much'. I know it's her room, but I want it too look nice and I'm worried that as she gets older, she may find she wants a more sophisticated look and it will be hard going back. Any thoughts? Anyone else had a difference of opinion with their kids over the design of their room? I need some help!

The room is lovely but I see your worries. The colours are very bright, and if you're not careful it might be a bit too much. Maybe she would like the pieces painted only white like the wall? It would have a calming effect, and you'd still be "doing something" to it. The knobs, are they wood? Here, wood knobs are inexpensive to replace, and if that's the case where you are, you might paint those in some of the wall or curtain colours. I haven't argued with any of my children over room decorating yet. When the time comes I'll probably let them pick what they like and tell them I won't help them change it until at least five years have passed.
I'm so glad you re-posted your photographs for us to see. :-D Great colours Tonya but I'd be loathe to paint the nightstand, dresser and headboard in the same colours. I's pick one of the colours from the wall and paint them all the same that way they'll still tie in with the room but won't be too overpowering. Do let us know what you decide to do and I hope you'll post more piccies when the room is completed.
Thank you both for your help. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who had some reservations about painting everything so boldly. I'm going to pitch your ideas to my daughter and see what she says and if we still can't compromise, than I think I'll have to go with Droopy and tell her she's stuck with it haha.

I think your daughter's bedroom is such a colourful, happy space! Good job on the decorating. As far as the furniture goes, what about not painting it at all, and then getting some cute, fun peel-off stickers (stickers that come away easily for the furniture when needed) and let her decorate her furniture with those. That way, she gets to be creative and you or she can pull them off when she wants something more sophisticated...
