You all might remember this past summer when I was having problems with a Calla Lily start I got from one of my aunts. It was struggling so bad. So I decided to dig it up and put it in pot so I could transplant it to a different location this spring.
I've been covering it up when the temps get down to freezing and today the bloom was fully opened.

So... instead of leaving it outside tonight since we're supposed to get down to freezing, I brought it inside. I couldn't let my "Aunt Rosalie" stay out in the cold, could I?

No you couldn't Cheryl as she deserves to be babied during the cold weather. Your TLC has certainly paid off as she's really lovely. :-D

Beautiful. I love callas. I did just read this week that in order to get callas started they have to have a little bit of growth to the eyes before they are planted. I thought that was interesting. Growers purchase, either, ready to plant ones or they have to prepare them, themselves. I didn't know that and last year I started several (rather late- from the clearance rack) and I had a hard time getting a nice plant out of them.

This one will babied for the rest of the winter and then I've prepared a spot for it under the Sassafras tree where it will get some shade. I sure hope it'll like it there.

Thanks Jerry. This gives me hope that I'll have something growing from all of my aunts. Just one more to go. And, all she really has is a rose bush given to her YEARS ago from my uncle. And I have a black thumb when it comes to roses. But I'm gonna try again!

Thanks everyone. It's now in the ground. Let's see how it does this year since it will be getting some shade.
