I take a lot of bug photos, used to have a few published till the magazine went belly up last year . I still like to take them and this is the first one this year. It is a Leptoglossus occidentalis, Western Conifer Seed Bug.
It's rather an attractive colour but I'm not overly keen on this type of insect as I know they feed on the seeds of conifers.
Anyone who can take a picture of a bug, and make it look attractive (especially to someone in Texas) has quite a knack for photography. If you ever run out of subjects, Kildale, I can round up several dozen for you, and that's just in our backyard!
When trying to open this thread, my computer showed an error-message (due to my anti-virus software wanting to update itself ), and I got the message to "debug" the page. Thought that was rather funny, considering the subject Kildale, do these also smell unpleasant just like most of this kind of bug? On macro they don't look as creepy as in real life, because you can see their funny little eyes
