Got my first Tufted Titmouse yesterday was so excited. But I have to admit whenever I say that name I laugh. Also had and return visit of the Northern Flickers seeing them more often in the yard this past week.

Nice shot! I'm wondering if I have these in my yard? I'm going to have to pay more attention!

We have a similar little bird to your Tufted Titmouse here in Scotland. It's called a Crested Tit. Here's a photograph my eldest son took recently on a trip 'up north.' It's in its winter plumage.

I hope, now that you've seen one of these delightful little birds, that many more will arrive in your garden.

I sure hope you do Netty they are so fun to watch...kind of remind me of watching a Ckickadee. These showed up in the afternoon.

What a cutie! I sure hope to see more of them. Seems like there may have been a couple but only one would come to the feeder.

Great shots, I have a group of the tufted titmice (?) year round, they are very busy birds. They are the first ones at the feeder when I refill.

The tufted titmouse usually hangs around with chickadees. Here if you see a chickadee there will be one or two titmouse also. I think the male and female look alike.

Capt. that is funny you said this because I did notice it came to the feeder with the chickadee. And reminds me of them both are fast...they hit the feeder...sing...then gone all in about a few seconds :)

They both will get a seed, here it's sunflower seeds, and then fly to a tree. They tuck the seed into a crevice in the bark to hold it. Then they use their beaks to break it open and get the seed. All of my trees around the feeder have sunflower seed hulls arond the base of the. I mix cracked corn and sunflower seeds together. The small birds get the seeds and throw the corn onto the ground. Then the doves and other ground feeders come and get the corn. The squirrels and chipmunks also get the corn. This helps to keep them from trying to get into the feeder.

Your little Titmouse is so cute! I am hoping to spot them here! I have a lot of Chickadees that are year round residents of my big old Austrian Pine. I always think of an old nursery rhyme "little Tommy Titmouse, lives in a little house" and I can't remember the rest....
Flickers are so cool. I love watching them gobble the suet.

Kay so far my Flickers are staying on the ground and the trees. I guess looking for ants and stuff...they have not came to the suet cakes yet. I sure hope they do I would love to get a closer look at them.

We've got the crested tit that eileen's got, but it's rarely spotted around here. I like those birds a lot. They look like small sweets dressed up as punkers. :D
