The weather really hasn't been playing ball, and I haven't been able to get to the allotment because the road to it was closed due to snow and ice, and then, as soon as the snow cleared, people wanted me to work, but yesterday, joy of joys, I finished at 2pm and didn't have to collect the children until 3.15. I was on site by 2.20 and was very pleased with what greeted me. The green mustard sown in autumn is thick and doing it's job keeping weeds down, keeping the goodness in the soil, and in a couple of weeks, I will dig it all in and be ready to plant. Very few weeds in general, and the snow really didn't do any damage. The deer...or even worse, rabbits, have eaten my parsley, so next visit when I have some time, I will put a cloche over it and hopefully I will be rewarded with a flush of new young leaves.

Before leaving I was able to harvest a trug full of roots, leeks, carrots, parsnips, beetroot and jerusalem artichokes, and a nice bundle of greens, sprouts, kale and a savoy cabbage. Very happy girl.

I have also brought my seed spuds for this year, can't remember all varieties, but a couple of firm faves, International Kidney, Kestrel and Pink Fur Apple. I shall write down the others and let you know.

So, to make your fingers even more itchy to get down and dirty in mother earth, here are a few pics of my harvest. :)

Yummy! I suddenly pictured myself digging down through the snow for the veggies, and sorry to say I'm not tempted. But your produce looks very tempting, EJ. :D

Fantastic!! Fresh veggies and no more snow - what could be better? :D Now I just have to wait for the last of the snow to melt, and the ground to thaw, then I can go play in the dirt too. :-D
