I started a blog with lots of pictures of my yard, trials in germinating seeds, and growing all different types of palms and plants. I am very new to this so any tips are appreciated. So here is the link.

I am awed by your variety of palms! Are the seeds really so bright blue? Amazing.

What a lot of palms you grow. Are there any flat surfaces in your home that don't have seed trays on them :-D

I lived in West Palm Beach for five years about 30 years ago and was amazed at how much would grow down there...even the fence posts along the roads were sprouting limbs.

I didnt know how tall the palms got.. What do you assume your palms age would be?
Is the soil mushy like ? I know sandy.

These Sabal Palms have been on the property since i was a little kid and i am 28. i am sure they are probably a little older. But this property actually is a little soggy, a very tropical feel. The property is surrounded by wetlands.

I thought it was the way you discribe.. Would that not be an oasis for tropical plants?
I once seen on tv, a lady from Hawaii moved to florida and did the tropical plant deal......gorgous.

    Thanks

I so enjoy reading your blog Brandan and seeing the photographs you've taken. You are completely organised which I think is wonderful as it allows us to see exactly how to go about planting palms ( or indeed other plants) step by step. I'm impressed with the plant stand you have made. Could you tell us exactly how you went about the construction of it please as I'd love to have something like that both indoors and outdoors for my plants?

WOW yall are just some of the nicest people with your wonderful comments about my little blog. I am an amateur at this and was just fortunate enough to be born in such a paradise were an idiot should be able to grow a plant. I have searched plants sites for a few months, lots of good ones some not so good and decided this blog should be a bit more descriptive. At least what i would want to see on plants sites. Only a couple weeks in and still trilled. And with comments like the ones here on gardenstew it keeps the drive going to make a wonderful blog for all of you.
    Thank Brandan :D
PS here is some Royal Palm Trees just for yall.

Oh and the plant stand. My wood working buddy owed me a little money. SO--- he said he had a bunch of cedar planks all different sizes and some free time so i began drooling. We went up to his shop and began building this plant stand. From tracing the tops of the different size pots for the circles we were going to use to hold the different pots, to cutting legs, supports, and assembling it. OH and also cut all of those pieces for my tree pot boxes in just 3 short hours. With a shop like that mine and your weekend projects are like a 2 hour project there. EVERYTHING under the sun was set up, plugged in, and had huge guides for big pieces of wood at every saw. just unbelievable stuff. Here are a few more shots of the side and bottom for some ideas.
