I thought I would share pictures of what's blooming right now. To bring a bit of spring to those of you in the colder parts of the world. Enjoy! And this last one is one of my favorite plants, I got it I guess almost 2 years ago. It's a distant member of the poinsettia family actually.
Great pictures Melissa, thanks. That is certainly an odd looking plant in the last picture. Is it in a bag of some sort or is that the plant?
very very nice,, thank you, i needed that! i'm with toni here, a little confused, is that the whole cactus or plant or is that a type of new planting technic,, p.s. i love the bucket,,, makes it homey.
That is the plant, it's not in a bag, though now that I look at it, in the picture it does look like it's in a bag! It's neither a cactus or succulent. They called it an odd ball where I got it from, and of course there was the scientific name, but I can't remember it. When I first got it, my daughter thought it was a ball, and many times would try to pull it out to play with it!
Does it bloom? We really need to see pictures of it if it does. The pattern on the outside reminded me of some fabric I had years ago that's why I thought it might be in a bag. That is as really cool plant.
I thought it was in a plaid looking bag too. What an odd ball plant .I would like to see it in bloom if it blooms.I like all the plants bot am a sucker for the odd ones. Thanks for posting them.
Thanks for that info, Eileen. I'll put it up somewhere that my kids can't get to it! Right now it has some cuts in it, those pesky squirrels tried to eat ot or take it I think. I wish they had to put a warning on poisonous plants... It doesn't really flower, those things on top of it are the flowers as far as I've seen.
Melissa.... those pics came JUST at the right time. Really. Great ones that give us all hope and anticipation. You know those folks up above here are all absorbed in that euphorbis(and it IS intrigueing, to be sure), But you know what caught my eye?--That climber with the purplish-pinkish blooms. The third pic down. This subtile jewel looks familiar, but I can't see it very well. Is it in the trumpet flower (Campsis) family? It looks like it's something that I could bedeck an arch with. Thanks for these fotos.
'ODD BALL' indeed... that picture would go well in the 'weirdest plant' group . I'm glad Eileen got the info out about it being highly toxic. Wonder what happened to the squirrels that got into it I like the unusual and different plants, like Glenda said. Thanks for sharing your pictures. I like the bird of paradise as well. Reminds me of my visits to Hawaii
Sjoerd, the vine is called pink bower vine. Not sure what family it comes from. Yes, it would look nice on an archway.
Ok Mel...thank you. I'll see what I can find out about it. I have something similar--it's a campsis type with flowers that look like rhododendron flowers. I got it last year while out with friends visiting some nice public gardens here in Holland. It didn't have many flowers last year (it's first season), but the blooms were very nice. I hope it survives the winter. Here's hoping.
Lucky you...it will be several months before I'll be able to post any flower pics from my yard, so in the meantime thanks for sharing. Look out for the euphorbia. I mistakenly pinched back a different variety one summer and broke out in welts wherever the white sap touched my skin.
Just what I needed, lovely flowers and a bit of sunshine, thank you! I adore your oddball plant, it's really weird looking. I shall have to look out for it at the florist's shop, nice contrast with my orchids in the window sill.
Wow, what a neat plant. It's a shame I can't put a row of them out for the rabbits to nibble on.
