The pink roses and sweet peas look like an old Victorian postcard, I love 'em I'm jealous of anyone who can grow crocosmia No matter how many bulbs I buy, where I plant them, they just fizzle out and die :-?
Hi Deanna, i wonder is there something stealing your Crocosmia Bulbs,..my cats have a habit of rooting them up in other people's garden and taking them home. My Crocosmia was coming up all over the place so i had to plant some in pots just to contain them,..they thrive in pots. Crocosmia in a pot,..taken four days ago. ( photo / image / picture from Philip Nulty's Garden ) Tooooo many pinkish roses. ( photo / image / picture from Philip Nulty's Garden ) Bumper crops of Sweet Pea. Gosh Philip you have so much flowering in your garden. Most of the plants in mine are beginning to succumb to the onset of autumn. I still have my lost label roses out front though and I'm so happy that I bought them as they still have lots of buds still to open.
Hi Eileen, ah yes those "lost label roses",..they will keep you in colour and blooms for some time to come,..over here there are signs of Autumn,..i just noticed my Autumn warning flowers starting to bloom,."Michaelmas Daisies",A.novi-belgii,..still there is a surge of roses blooming and lots to come before Christmas,..i have had one of my rose bushes grown from seed in flower,..another has two buds,..always interesting to see just what will bloom from the seeds,..will they be like the parent bush or a complete new rose?. Taken two days ago. ( photo / image / picture from Philip Nulty's Garden )
Hi Kay, those Orange roses are a big hit,..here is another for you. ( photo / image / picture from Philip Nulty's Garden )
Hi Philip! Photo #6 is an award-winning photo if I ever saw one! And the others are such a treat for the eyes. So bright and cheerfully colored. Oh boy! And the sight of that last orange one just made my day! Stratsmom... It still strikes me "funny" & sad, at the same time, that some plants are pains-in -the-rear to some folks... while others wish they could grow them. Case in point, Crocosmia. I've always liked their flowers. They remind me of exploding firecrackers. But....they have taken over what used to be my Mom's daylily bed. And I really want to dig them all up. Not sure I'd even replant them, unless it could be in an area that could be well contained. So, if I dig out that area, would you like a truck-load of Crocosmia bulbs? Oh my... I've wandered off-topic. Thanks for the updated photos of your garden, Philip. Everything is looking marvelous!
Cheryl I'd love a truck load of bulbs I don't think anyone is stealing my bulbs, think it's just too dry for them They grow like weeds along the highway the closer you get to the coast but this far inland they just croak. Philip I've tried them in pots, thought I could care for them a little better but no, they never made an appearance I just kept watering dirt. By the way...you can NEVER have tooooo many pinkish roses
Hi Cheryl, ah yes #6 is a special shot indeed,..i happened to be with camera in hand when i spotted the way the sun was showing rays on the rose,..had i gone into the house for the camera i suppose it would have gone on my return. So true about some of us having an abundance of a certain flower while others just can not get it to grow,.. or if grown it won't last long. -------------------------------------------------- Hi Deanna, a small truck load of Crocosmia would look well in your garden,..in a spot that gets lots of moisture,..or even a box of Crocosmia Bulbs,..have a go!. Tooo many pinks,..really i have,..even though they vary in pinkish colour,..and to make it worse i think two of the three bushes grown from seed are pink. Pinkish. Hello Philip-- Nice to see you. Your garden is loooking fallish and quite lovely in the light. it is nice to see all the roses, but I especially like seeing the combination shots - they are just gorgeous. You have an ideal space there for your garden. Does a sweet fragrance hang in that garden of yours?
Hi Sjoerd, nice to see you as well,..i have some catching up to do with all the posts while i was AWOL. Yes the garden contains all the fragrance due to the very high walls at the end of the garden and the sides as well,..so its a garden in a box,..evening time its highly fragrant,..between the Roses,..Mints,..Honeysuckle,..Purple Fennel is very strong just now,..Variegated Wallflower,..Lavender,..and strongest of all the Curry Bush,..there is quite a mix of scents as i walk around. Foeniculum vulgare,'purpureum'.
