We have an unattractive entrance to our front door. It's a small front porch of sorts, longer than it is narrow (though it's pretty narrow) set back from the walkway, dim and cave-like. I've tried various things to make it more inviting, and nothing really worked until this latest setup. I decided to showcase all my whimsical collection of kitsch there, rather than having it scattered about. Added a wicker plant stand and potted a couple of shade plants, found a cute door hanger (instead of a wreath) and now I'm calling it done.....at least until I decide to change it again. ;)

    From the walkway:

The door hanger in place of a wreath....my kids love it!

I love the entryway, especially that door plaque!! You have done a great job of making it welcoming.

Ronni, you have found the solution to the "welcome to the cave" entrance so many houses have! I love what you have done--whimsical, welcoming, and bright! Your welcome frog is especially great. You have a wonderful design sense!

Thanks, guys! I'm pleased with the result.

But, don't laugh, OK? When I saw that photo taken from the walkway, I realized that I can still go UP....meaning I have all that wall space to hang stuff on! I don't have a back fence or other area on which to hang outside art, but that front entrance area is perfect. I do have one piece hanging which you don't see from that photo angle, but there's so much more potential just waiting for me to take advantage of it! ;)

Stratsmom, I found both at one of my local discount stores...a TJ Maxx, Ross or Marshalls. I go to all of them regularly looking for stuff. I no longer remember how much the door hanging was but I do know it was under $10.00. And the frog was on clearance for $5.99 because its little feet were bent and it was scratched. Took me all of about 10 seconds to straighten the feet out, and the scratch was on the back of the frog so you can't see it anyway!

Funny! :D Thing is, my kids with kids LOVE that I have such focus on the grandkids. And thankfully, my kids who don't have kids yet, but who love their nieces and nephew, think it's very cute. So everyone wins!

I would certainly feel welcome at your house! The sign is incredible and very fun :)
