so I looked out the front window just as a large bird left the ground and landed in the Crepe Myrtle tree near the street. My first thought was it's too large and brown to be a Grackle or Crow then it turned around on the branch and I nearly fainted. Sneaked outside with the camera and got this shot....a Cooper's Hawk. It took off a few minutes later and eventually all the small birds returned.

I'm so glad you spotted it Toni and managed to get such a good shot of it. Beautiful birds aren't they?

Toni, a great visitor! We have Cooper's, but have never gotten such a good photo of one as you did. I love to watch the hawks (Redtails and Coopers) hunting the pasture. Voles beware!
