Yesterday was day two that I have been able to work in the garden during the whole month of Sept...and other than watering since mid-July the only two days of gardening this neverending summer. My pretties have bloomed without me and look pretty without my help, so maybe I should just not worry so much about having to neglect them thru the hottest part of summer afterall. The Fall Asters are doing very well, they should have been trimmed back to go bushy instead of tall and lanky but the blooms are really pretty. This part includes Coreopsis, Texas Betony (the pink blooms), Mexican Bush Sage (back right), I think you can see some Mealy Sage on the left and next to the Mexican Bush Sage and the two Fall Asters in the front. The sun was almost too bright for good pictures and then the batteries died right after taking this one so the quality isn't the best. More Coreopsis, White Autumn Sage, Lipstick Sage (far right), Blue and Black Salvia and red Dianthus in the bottom pot of my tipsy pot (the other plants died during the heavy rains in June and I just never got them replaced) Haven't gotten this dwarf Plumbago in the ground yet but it is doing it's best to survive in the pot. One lonely Batchelor Button plant still survives. A warning to us all.....don't plant 4 Tri-colored Sweet Potato Vines thinking one probably won't be enough for full coverage. I have been cutting off and pulling out 20'-30' pieces of this vine from all over the garden. It is in the Fig tree too but that will have to wait until the tree looses it's leaves so I can see all of the vine that has grown in there. The vines have tangled themselves in the blads of the windmill so it doesn't spin any more.
What a lovely garden you have, Toni! If mine had looked like this after two months of me doing nothing, I'd have done nothing forever.
What a gorgeous colour your dwarf plumbago is Toni - my favourite colour in a garden. You have so much colour and everything looks fantastic. I think I'll take a leaf out of your book and leave my plants to their own devices in future!!
My tri color went a little wild too, I planted three, but in different places and in containers. My brother wanted to know what I planned on doing with that insidious vine growing all over. I said let it grow.
I love the vine growing on the windmill with the little snowman standing guard! I've never had much luck with sweet potato vine but your photo makes me want to try again! Deanna :-D
