My niece Julie is 9. We spent the day together on Friday. Made some art, went to the pool and slid down the water slide about 100 times, then came home and harvested veggies to eat with our mac-n-cheese/hotdog combo. We had a wonderful day. Here is my girl, picking broccoli. She was so excited about harvesting and cooking our "stuff." She liked all the flavors AND would like everyone in the world to know that she ate the squash blossoms too. My favorite comments were "Who knew vegetables could be so exciting" and "WOW! I always wondered where broccoli came from!!" (from Aunt MaryAnn's garden!). She wants a veggie plot at her house next year. She's the sweetest, gentlest little girl... I just adore her. She is adorable and has a good spirit since she is interested in gardening. Good looking feast you have there. Congratulations, Daiseybean.
What a good post, Daisy. That box of veg really is good to see. I like it when children show an interest in growing things. I have noticed that kids who actually experience a garden first hand also seem to not mind eating alot of the veg that other children of the same age do not eat or care for. It is to hope that the impressiopns that your young helper experienced will be lasting ones.
DB she is a doll! I know you two had lots of fun together and made memories that you can share forever.
Thanks for the comments about my niece.. she is a sweetie pie. This Friday we are going to Washington DC to visit the National Gallery of Art. She's never been to an art museum. We're both excited.
So lucky to have a helper and the vegies look yummy. I really like your black-eyed Susans in the background. Very cheery :-D
The prettiest garden helper I have seen in a long time, and what a lovley box of veggies she havested.
