I thought it might be fun to post an ongoing gallery of my front garden. When we first moved into this house last October, and I faced the challenge of creating something from the mess I inherited, I was quite daunted. I'm not a gardener. I have no clue! But you all helped enormously. Whatever success I've achieved so far has been a direct result of all the assistance, advice, counsel and direction you've given me.

I plan to update this thread periodically, as the front garden evolves.

    This is where I began:

I knew that hedge had to go, so I started with that, though I didn't have a clue what might follow! I just knew that it was ugly and I didn't want it.

The very first things I planted! (Some got moved later, as I learned more about what would do best where.)

One of many surprises along the way!

Having finally chosen replacement shrubs, the event had to be commemorated with a photo!

This morning, Sunday July 28, 2013, I planted the border plants I found for a steal at my local market, making the garden look a little more "finished" somehow.

It's funny, every time I look at the garden, I don't really see it....instead I'm looking through the filter of what my vision is FOR it, and what I envision it to look like several years from now when it's matured. :stew1:

I have a LONG way to go, but I wouldn't have gotten this far without the help of you all. So thank you! :smt049

Ronni, I'm sure the Stewbies were of help to you, but YOU did the work, YOU had the vision, and YOU have created a lovely, welcoming entrance to your home.
Looking forward to seeing the garden mature, and any additions/extensions to it.

I love to see before and afters (and in-betweens).
Awesome job Ronni! That is really looking 2000% better than when you started. :smt038
I'm looking forward to watching your vision become a reality.

I love to see photographs like this. Seeing a bed progress from ugly to beautiful is a real pleasure. Well done Ronni you should be proud of what you've achieved. Love the snake by the way. It should help keep lots of nasties away from your plants.

It is always good to see before and after pictures. You've done a great job, especially doing it all yourself! Well done

Just for fun, I messed around with a photo program I have, and created this side-by-side comparison.

Now I just want everything to GROW!!! In my mind's eye, the garden is lush and and the shrubs reach the window ledge. The flowers are producing colorful blooms and the plants I chose for their tapestry and contrast of colors and textures are mature and making a visual impact.

    Hurry UP!!!! :-D
