Hey guys, since I am brand new to gardening(I'm 17) and new to GardenStew I thought i'd share some pictures of my garden and the story of how I got into gardening. Well anyway the garden in the pictures was created and first used last year and run by my mother. Everything died and we didn't get much out of it. Needless to say my mom does not have a green thumb hahaha. So anyway this year I offered to take care of the garden this year, and my family was glad that it'd be taken off their hands . I started researching how to grow certain plants and I found everything I read insanely interesting, from then on i got sucked into the gardening world and realized that the current space i had to work with in the garden wasn't enough so me and my dad built 4 new small boxes in between the trees shown in the picture, and 2 new boxes(Still needing a trellis) back near the wood pile. We also added a ten foot gutter alongside the fence which will soon be growing small baby lettuce. I also started a potato mound this year. So for the first year of my gardening experience I am very excited. Most everything I started from seed but i did buy a few plants. Ignore the time stamp, my cameras date is all messed up. This is the main overview of the garden. Looks good, and oh so organized! The gutter idea is of particular interest. I might have to try that idea.
Thank you! Yeah its really cool I will post some pictures when I have it filled and growing. People like to hang them against a wall for vertical gardening.
Who says you gotta start small, eh? Your layout looks super nice. And it looks like you're going to take advantage of every nook and cranny. Will you be mostly growing veggies and herbs? Great job to you and your dad.
Macbrine, Wow, I am very impressed with your set up! Very professional looking. Good luck with your growing & please do keep us posted.
You have everything so neat and tidy and your plants are off to a great start. Your dad is a gem, with helping you build such a nice garden patch. Those beds are really nice.
You are doing great. It's refreshing. I am looking forward to how things brow at your house this year. I don't know about your compost barrel. Do you lay it down and roll it?
Thanks to all of you! Waretrop ya I didnt feel the need to buy an 100 dollar composter from amazon when i can just make one from a ten dollar trashcan. I just lay it on the ground and roll it.
Wow Macbrine, I am most impressed with what you have done so far. I can't wait to see everything planted and growing. Your Dad looks like a great carpenter too, that really helps
That's a very nice set-up indeed. My, if only my garden were half as organized I'd be ever so pleased. Great job, you and your father make a good team.
