Here is what I have in my greenhouse. It's a Gerbera Daisy in the benches that will go out in the gardens, if we ever get Spring. Got a jump in Spring here.
Barb, That is such a delicate color. Beautiful. I have never grown a gerbera myself. They always get mildew and die before I catch it. OOPS! Maybe I'll try again this year.
A lovely gerbera Barb, I have just taken on growing gerbera seriously.I have already had some prize winning blooms. This week I have actually ordered seed from U.S.!Germination can be a bit tricky but I am mananging 90%. They are such a good strong looking real flower and now in so many different varieties. ( photo / image / picture from chocolate's Garden ) "Spider" my favorite this week. ( photo / image / picture from chocolate's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from chocolate's Garden ) I am trying for different types and some real pale delicate flowers like your one. There are some double lilac seedlings which will flower this summer[Dec} sounds interesting, what they say is lilac might be completely different to what I think lilac is, so I am waiting.
Barb and Chocolate your Gerbera daisies are beautiful. I tried to grow them last year. It was my first attempt but I failed and didn't get any pretty flowers. Except for one little wee one about the size of a quarter.(sigh)
My thanks to whoever corrected my spelling of this plant. chocolate, I believe your 'Spider' may be my favorite one. It's a new flower for me. I can't leave them in the ground for the Winter because we get to cold. I would have to bring them into the greenhouse for the Winter. I probably have 5 that I tried this Winter and with the hard time we had with the furnace in there, it still looks like they survived. They look ratty but now leaves are coming up like crazy. I will cut away all the poor leaves and they will be ready to go out when it gets warm. I will save a little spot in the greenhouse for these plants and this Summer I will add to my little collection. I have a few bugs on the one in the picture and I am working on ridding the plant of them. I watch that carefully and this problem is only in this immediate area. I have learned that certain plants draw certain bugs. Always keeping them at bay.
