OK I've managed to sort out all my piccies from our week-end away so here they are.

Just as we were about to leave on Saturday morning I spotted 'our' sparrowhawk sitting on top of the garden arch. It was very misty outside so the picture quality is rubbish but I did manage to capture him through the patio door glass!!

Off we went and the weather certainly didn't improve which made driving a bit of a problem. We could hardly see 50 yards in front of the car. We took things slowly though and arrived in the highlands around 2.00pm

As the cloud had lifted slightly we decided to take a trip on the Cairngorm funicular railway. This piccie was taken from a poster as it was too cloudy to take the real thing I'm afraid.

Here are some views from the top of Cairngorn mountain. The fences you can see are for skiers. When there has been a heavy snowfall the snow drifts against these fences and then gets pulled off them and flattened so that skiers have a good 'run' down the mountainside.

I know, I know - definately not the best shots!!! The cloud hadn't lifted much so most of the view was obscured.

We had a hot chocolate before coming back down to the car park where I spotted these for Jan.

We then went to our hotel to book in. Here are two shots of our room.

    Our tester bed!!

Our double sized bath tub - complete with toys to play with!!

I can't use a bath with these false knees of mine so Ian had a bath while I had a shower. We then set off for something to eat. When we returned to our room we watched TV (a luxury for us) until bedtime.

I'll post the 'photos of day two in another post.

Eileen, thanks for the pics. The sparrow hawk looks so fierce! The bikes are really tricked out. I would love one like it. What beautiful countryside!!! I want to return to Scotland NOW.

Love the sparrowhawk though I'm not sure if this is the same one we have here. We had one nest in our owl box once. They are so beautiful, especially the males. Thanks for vicarious travel enjoyment. That bathtub looks grand. Nothing better than bath, bubbles and book. 8)

Glenda we do have a TV here but we very seldom get the time to sit down and watch it. It was actually quite a treat to relax for a couple of hours doing absolutely nothing for a change. :-D

Oh gosh Eileen, you need to do that more often .I thought because of the restrictions on the house you might not be able to have anything for reception .The satillite restriction I think got my mind in that direction.lol
I am glad you got some rest and just relaxed a while.

So great that you were able to get away to such a wonderful place! It looks like a million miles from anywhere, so peaceful.
