Aluminum Plant, rescued from a pet store as an aquarium plant

My first Christmas cactus. Still very small but it did bloom so I have high hopes it will grow well. Could use some tips on watering them though.

This is 2 of my Jade plants, the large leaf ones. Also in the picture is an Avacado I started and a few Spider plants that I need to get a planter for so they can grow and not be water logged.

Here is the Jade plant I really want to grow to a massive size. It is the large leaf one again but it has 8 or more starts in the pot. Eventually I want to put it in a huge planter and get the trunks very large and intertwined.

This is a makeshift propogator thing I made out of 3 shoe boxes. I cut the middles out of the lids, hot glued them together and voila, instant moisture dome. I then took one of the shoe boxes and cut the bottom out of it where I hot glues some plastic canvas to it to hold the potting soil and allow water to drain into the third shoe box. It works because I have 4 cuttings from my grandma's Plum tree showing signs of taking root and one that has roots growing for sure. Total cost was only about $4.

Your house plants look nice and healthy. I really like your shoe box propagator, very inventive. Well done! :D

Your propagator looks great fish!! Very inventive and only around $4. :-D As long as it does the job it really doesn't matter whether you made it out of shoe boxes or you spend oodles of money on it. Personally, I love to make things out of stuff I have lying around and utilise as many odds and ends as I can.

Your houseplants all seem to be doing well and thriving. Jade plants are so rewarding aren't they as they root so easily?
May I make one suggestion though? The plant in your first photograph looks as though it could become 'leggy' so, if I were you, I'd pinch out the growing tips. This should encourage it to put out side shoots and become bushier.
    Happy rooting!! :stew1:

I like your propagator-what a great idea. I think I'm in need of another house plant now, I'm really liking the looks of the jade plant, they must be easy to care for. BTW, welcome to gardenstew.

Yah, the aluminum plant is leggy. It is supposed to have indirect sunlight but when I give it that it either burns or wilts so I have it on top of the fridge with nothing but light bulb lighting, lol. I will snip the tops and see if it bushes out. Would be nice if it really got thick.

I will do a step by step thing with the propagator. I think I have another one or two lying around that I can use. If nothing else I will get closer pictures of it and all the pieces.
