Barb, Have they ever dropped their needles before? The one looks like a Hemlock, but I am not certain... I am of the opinion...unfortunately you will loose them, but wait and watch. I have my Blue Atlas Cedar that I am just watching and waiting. I will be so sad if it was too cold for it this year. I loved that tree. It was so cool looking.

One has been in the ground for years and the other was planted last year or the year before. I think the cold was too much for them.

But I still will hold out some hope.

PS No Carolyn Kieper, I don't think it's a Hemlock but it may be a Blue Cedar. So they loose their leaves??

I am thinking no, it is not supposed to loose it's needles... There are very few species that do. One is the Larch which looses it's needles in the Fall and regrows them in the spring. But not the cedars, I am thinking.

That doesn't look very good. But there's always hope.... plants can be so resilient some times.
