Here is the mystery we were trying to solve.

SO is it amaryllis? Why did it grow without soil and bloom in May 22?
No soil and all in an ice cream bucket?

Ones that I followe directions , didnt bloom???
    ??????????????????????????

That is definately a beautiful Amaryllis. I cant explain why it flowered when left in an ice cream tub but not with its care instructions. I guess plants and bulbs do things when they see fit !!

Most definitely an Amaryllis Hippeastrum vittatum

Looks like the same color as the ones I have out front.

You obviously gave it just the right conditions to bloom well for you Barb - even if you didn't realise it at the time. Keeping bulbs in a cool, dark place often does more good than all the TLC we give them.

Congratulations, that's a beautiful Amaryllis. Plants do amazing things sometimes and grow in adverse conditions all right.

That is a beauty. I have an amarylis and it has only bloomed twice in about 5 years. I have kept it in its compost but maybe I should have removed it and repotted it each year? Any advice please.

That is just overall a great story -- lessons in resilience! AND it's pretty to boot!

That is a beautiful specimen - I love Amaryllis too. :-D
Gardengater is so right - plants can be quite amazing at times. I planted Amaryllis quite some time ago in pots (these I show off when they are in bloom around my swimming pool area) and it is time that I repot mine.
