I planted a lot of seeds outdoors last week and already some are germinating.....sorry if I am clogging this board....I just had to share my new excitement since I am very new at gardening.

I hope the hail didn't damage your seedlings Tweetykiss. I've been gardening for more years than I care to remember but I always get a thrill when I see those first new shoots appear.
Nothing beats seeing those first little baby shoots coming up - how exciting for you! What did you plant? Flowers, veggies?
I did the flowers and now I still have to plant more flower seeds and some veggie and herb seeds. Thanks Eileen for your kind words....I did check outside once the weather calmed down and my plants and seedlings seem to be fine and I notice I have some real big earthworms since a friends dug a veggie bed for me so they are now coming out.....there was some hail stones near my bed though and a lot of leaves were there so I have a lot of cleaning up to do.
Really pleased to hear that your seeedling have survived. :-D I love to see earthworms as it means you have good soil in your garden. Let's hope the weather doesn't throw anything else your way and that everything grows from strength to strength.
Good morning Dear (Eileen), I am so glad to see you are here. I am just hoping the leaves that fell won't kill my seeds or shoots. I now love earthworms although at first as you had noticed I had admitted they gave me the creeps until all of you explained to me they are our very good friends and excellent helpers. I also noticed on the Internet that many people breed them and keep them indoors so they can produce compost for their garden. I now know that I can feed the soil my table scraps and the earthworms will eat it and survive and work on my garden. I also read that a garden without earthworms means the soil is not good and that the early settlers of America brought earthworms from Europe. I have so many table scraps and now I will just give it to them but I hope the mice don't show up. This town does have a mice problem. UGH!! If the soil is dry today, I will plant my seeds. Hope you get to work outside today. Where is your blog BTW?
Hi Tweetykiss. :-D On blogs (on the green bar) you'll find mine is the third one down from the top - in the middle section of the page. (// Edit by Frank - Link to Eileen's blog http://www.gardenstew.com/blog/index15.html) I managed to get out and remove all the dead heads from my daffs and some of my tulips but it is soooo windy that I decided to do some indoor work for the rest of the day. If you have loads of kitchen scraps TK why don't you buy or build yourself a compost bin? That way you'll make compost for all your plants but won't have the same worry about mice. Hi Bugs and Eileen, I went and bought more seeds today and some plants for my next door neighbor. I actually get more of a thrill of the seeds now versus the plants. Thanks Eileen for those web addies. I will check them out and start the composting since I also want to lasagna garden for next year. Yes, I will extend my garden next year. The more the merrier!!! It's not actually an indoor garden. as such, that I have Tweety just a collection of different plants everywhere. I have: A dragon tree, A large variagated climbing plant (don't know exactly what it is as my daughter gave it to me.) Some pitcher plants (carniverous), A jasmine, A few bonzais, An indoor miniature rose, African violets, A peace lily, A Moth orchid, A money plant, 3 tomato plants, and around a dozen or so peppers!!! Oh and all the cuttings that I'm rooting!! Ian says it's like coming home to a jungle but there's still plenty of space for more!!!
Now I had planted some seeds more than four weeks ago, should I replant or can it take longer to germinate....I am in Chicago, IL so that is the weather here....
