"The more people (I) interact with, and the longer that interaction, the higher the risk of COVID-19 spread. " That's a direct quote from the CDC website, succinctly stated and summating all the major facts I've been working with since this pandemic began. Risk. That's what it's all about for me....my own personal risk, and the risk I subject others to as I begin to phase back in to my New Normal Life, both personally and professionally. Risk assessment under these pandemic conditions is a very personal thing. As individuals, we're all privy to the same information, guidelines and restrictions. My interpretation of those, my vulnerabilities and subsequent risk assessment is greater than some other folks' because of my age and the specific factors and people in my life. I have, and continue to make choices which reflect that perceived risk. I've offended some people with my choices already, and likely will continue to as I re-integrate into my personal and professional life. Those who know me know I'm not a contentious or quarrelsome person so I'm sorry as hell for having upset the ones I have. But I won't apologize for doing what *I* think is right to keep myself and my loved ones safe.
The way I see it Ronni, of we aren't getting paid for taking a risk - Then it's simply not worth taking... It's really as simple as that.
Ronni our lives are the most important thing we have so if we offend others while trying to protect our own and our families then so be it.
Here, here Ronni!! Just continue following your ideas--they are safe for you and considerate of others. If other folks still, after all these weeks don't get it...well, then that is something that they will have to live with. You can come out of this with a clean conscience. Of course I am not wild about dying before my time, but I could not live with knowing I had infected someone and they died...by being lax and inconsiderate. I just couldn't. The focus here in my country is on others. It is completely compatible with my own make-up. All that waffle is perhaps more than you wanted to hear, but I am really just trying to let you know that I fully support your position.
While the perceived risks are personal and real, there are many voices out there with other points of view, and sorting through them is difficult--who is truthful and who is not? Some areas are going quite overboard on their reactions and restrictions. In some places it is "okay" to go to a casino or a bar, but not to church. A lot of it is just nonsense to me. Millions die of many other causes, but nothing is done about those. Here in Missouri, things have been opened up again which I think is good. I have read where staying home and wearing masks weakens one's immune system. There is much more going on than meets the eye. I am not disagreeing with you, but things are not what they appear to be in many cases. Research it as much as you can, and try to make an informed decision.
When outside of your house,, wear the mask and use the hand sanitizer ! I haven`t had a cold,, which is also a corona virus in over 20 years but since this virus is new ,, I am not going to give it a chance ! Its a small thing to use the protection recommended ! Better than the hospital !
