This Texas heat is just about to do me in. And my flowers are looking so poorly. Have lost several already, and see the strain on others. I loath hot weather, but living in Texas you have to expect it and accept it, or leave. It's too late for me to do that now. Some cooler temps and rain would be nice. ;) ;)

I dread getting our next water bill. The mulch on all the beds is helping but when the humidity gets low mulch can't prevent the moisture from being sucked out of the plants.

    We hit 105 again today.

Eileen, it just depends on what you are used to. I can't help but dream of living some place where upper 70's is hot.

Oh dear Gaylyn, that must be terrible watching your plants fry! I sure hope you get some cooler temperatures (and some rain!) very soon.

I know what you mean. I can't keep it all watered. It was 103.8 on my back porch today - in the shade! I have been watering all the flower beds but not the grass (trying not to use too much water) and today when I walked across the yard the grass literally crunched. I can't remember when we last had a good rain. Hopefully we will all get some relief soon!

Eileen, I would be thrilled with temps in the 70's. I know the Dallas area suburbs where Toni is (and my daughter) are suppose to have over a hundred everyday for the next week (up to 106). It was 102 where I am (about 200 miles SE of Toni) and it is miserable. My grass crunches also. I haven't been watering the grass, but I am tomorrow. I am trying to 'baby' my favorite plants. Maybe a rain dance might work!

A good soaking rain for several days would be nice. When we get rain, it pours and pours and runs off into the sewer. Guess a prayer wouldn't hurt! ;)

I always have to remind myself that some members live among such amazing temperatures. Poor plants.

I just have to keep reminding myself that even with 105 temps, this isn't anywhere nearly as hot and miserable as the summer of 1980....temps of 112 and 113 were horrible that summer.

Toni, I remember that miserable summer very well.My dad was in the hospital and I had to face the sun to get into the hospital. My eyelids actually felt like they were 'crispy'.

The summer of 1997 was also a scorcher as well as 2006. But nothing like 1980 with (I think it was) 69 days in a row of over a 100.

I am so ready for fall and some good soaking rain! :(
