my sunflowers :)

    hi everyone!!! hope all is well and the windy weather hasn't been too damaging in the gardens. haven't been on here for a while so i have a few bits and bobs for you to look at :)

    dont know how these managed to survive the wind but im glad they did. the seeds are almost ripe now on the big one i took down.

    the first pic is the beast i took down after it had done its buisness. the bottom two are still in the ground and going strong

    Those are some great looking Sunflowers! I tried growing some, but due to lack of water, they just didn't make very big "heads". But the birds did enjoy what seeds they did get off of them.
    Great job! And oh yeah... what do you have growing on the trellis in the background of the last photo? It sure looks pretty.

    that would be my rhodictron in the background. i only planted 3 of them and its really took off. looking forward to planting alot more next year with some clematis and hiding the fence :)

    My birds would have a whale of a time tucking into that gigantic sunflower head full of seeds. :-D

    i bet they would eileen lol the sunflowers are named titan. but this was the only large head out of the four i planted, the rest were pretty standard size. i can tell my tallest isn't going to be too big. well im hoping it isn't or its likely to fall over :)

    WOW that is a great sunflower, is it a giant variety or did you just feed it well?

    Very impressive,..its hard enough to get the giant sunflower seeds,..but i agree with everyone,..brilliant flowers.

    i actually didn't feed them at all and just got lucky i guess. the variety is called titan and they can get to around 10ft in height with a good 12" flower head :-D

    Yup that is a giant. We love sunflowers and plant several different varieties. One of my fav is a mahogany one named Velvet Queen. It is a gorgeous deep bronze red color. Those are some great pic's thanks for sharing. :stew1:

    The Queen Sunflower is very impressive. It is rightfully named as Queen because of its grandeur.
