These pictures are from my recent trip to West Palm Beach, Florida. I spent nearly everyday patrolling for new (to me) and exotic plants. The weather was a little cold and windy but still enjoyable compared to home. Here is a list of some of the gardens I went to: Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden http://www.ftg.org/ Granddaddy of them all in Miami. It has a big Chuhuly exhibit through spring. Flamingo Gardens http://www.flamingogardens.org/ Near Fort Lauderdale, Fl. Very cozy garden with some outstanding plants. MOUNTS Botanical Garden http://www.mounts.org/home.asp Palm Beach County's oldest and largest Botanical Garden The Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens http://www.morikami.org/ Great garden in upscale Delray Beach, Fl. I have a Florida album on my website (actually the New Pictures section): Florida album link: http://digitalflowerpictures.com/photo_album.01.html
Wow. Looks as if you had a great time. I would love to visit Florida. They have more champion trees in Florida than any other state. Everything likes to grow in Florida. muddy
Ahhhhhhh, Thanks for sharing your beautiful photos, digitalflower. It's like taking a little trip home, for me, I spent my formative years in West Palm Beach and I spent so many hours wandering around in those glorious gardens. Oh how I wish I could get down there to attend that Chihuly exhibit!! Your photos are the next best thing. Thanks, again.
Chihuly, the master of glass in the garden. Lovely photos, can't wait to view the album. Thanks for sharing.
Lovely pictures, I would love to see a Chihuly exhibition he does wonderful things with glass. I lived in West Palm Beach for 5 years, many years ago, I did some small gardening in rent house yards but my main thing was indoor plants. Yep, Muddy, everything will grow in Florida, especially Palmetto bugs and Coral snakes which I do not miss.
Eileen, Thanks for taking a look and posting the nice comments. Here is a picture that is exclusive to GardenStew. It is a Black-Crowned Night Heron. This guy was close I only had a 60mm lens.
So many times I say this: "The camera does not make the photographer any more than the hammer makes the carpenter."
Oh Digital can I pinch the Night Heron photograph please? I'd like to show it to a birding friend of mine. She's been trying to get a good 'head shot' of a Black-crowned Night Heron for ages. If I show her your piccie then she'll know to keep trying because it is possible!!!
What great photos. I especially love the heron. Can't wait for hubby to see it too. We are big birdwatchers here. 8)
