We got in some more flurries thru out today again. Sadly summer is gone and cold weather is here for awhile.
I would hate to live where its so cold.I want to move to Montana but I would go crazy during the winter.I would be like a caged animal.
Winter is good for planning and actually making new flower beds or borders as long as we've got no frost or snow, and providing the weather is behaving. I must confess that I'm not tempted to clear away the snow and then shovel frozen dirt. But I can make plans. I know a woman who's converted a basement room into a plant nursery. She sows, tends overwintering plants and generally enjoys herself immenseley. They've installed plenty of plant light. That seaweed won't last long since i plan on goin down today to pick it an dry it for use, i make a tea out of it, which is great as a body tonic, an also i use it in a scrub for the body which adds so many mineral back into it that we lose each day. winter i also use as a time to plan. we have to much snow now, an actually the ground started to freeze around the last week of oct. but the only fields i got to sow was my potato field to get ready for next yr. i still have kalarabi an brussel sprouts which thrive on this kind of weather, so i need to go down an check those out too. if i can get to them. winter shouldn't stop you from goin outside, theres to much you can do out there. okay so you can't plant nothing but that shouldn't limit you goin outdoors an enjoying yourself, i've been to Montana, infact i used to live right next door in South Dakota. I lived in a few states when i was in america, an it can get cold there, but there is so many winter sports an the views are just amazing,,, Thanks for the link droopy, i'll check that out, an i also use the basement for when its time to start my seed for veggies an such,, usually in jan-feb.
You stewbies give new meaning to the words "busy bees". I think I would exhibit bear behaviour and hibernate in winter to escape the cold and the snow.
I have visited South Dakota and I loved it.It is a wonderful state also.I would love to go back.Maybe one day I'll get to do just that.
Winter is a good time to REST, which is much needed after all the summer gardening an work, canning all that wonderful stuff.
