Yep. Rain! And temps in the mid 80s.
Darn weatherfolks actually got one right!
I could have almost just copied/pasted Toni's original post.
Just a bit over 2.25 inches in less than an hour.
And there's still a very slight drizzle.

It really came down pretty good for a while. Lots of lightning, thunder AND wind.

The internet was out for about an hour, but I could see the work trucks across the pasture so I wasn't too concerned. ;)
Just watched the weather forecast. Nothing but 100+F days for the next week.
Yep... just like Toni's post, huh?

Glad to hear there is some good news about rain after such a long period drought. Perhaps La Nina will go away for awhile.

That's amazing, Cheryl. Well anyhow, all that rain is good for you folks, right? I can almost see that plant perk up!

I wish it was true Jerry. But there is no forecast of rain again in the next 7 days. But who knows? It could happen!

and Sjoerd... all the plants perked up... as soon as the wind stopped beating them around.
At least I don't have to drag out the water hoses this evening.
The rain barrel is full again. The bird baths are full and all of the water container gardens were overflowing.

You know... I should have saved myself all this typing and just copied/pasted Toni's post from the other day!
    :D

Glad you got rain too. Now we really have to work on getting some rain to fall on Jane, Mart and Dooley.

Amazingly there was some rain out in Lubbock this past week, they got about 3 inches which was more than they had gotten in total between January and July this year.

Send some rain my way, please. Last week we got about two inches then the heat returned during the daytime hours; cooler nights. My lawn is beginning to resemble a french fry.

:smt026 Yah! So glad to hear that some of you got some much needed rain. We have been watering, watering and watering some more. But at least our temp's are a lot cooler now here in Wis. Only 80's during the day. :stew1:

A blessed sight, those pics of the rain there; giving your growing things a good drink. Hope the worst of the summer heat is over for you.

Unfortunately Kay...August is always our hottest month. I can take the heat... it's the drought that's hurting the most.

OK, I wish the worst of the summer drought is over for you... It gets depressing when it's so dry for such a long period of time and you probably aren't supposed to use water for plants now are you?
I wish we could dig a big channel to draw the water away from the Missouri River basin east of here to you guys down in Texas. Wouldn't that be an engineering feat? There are areas near here that have several feet of standing water flooding out farms, farmland, and small towns. It is really a mess, and the water won't be receding anytime soon.

Thanks for the "wish" Kay! :-D
We aren't under any watering restrictions where I live. But, I always try to water wisely and conserve whenever possible... even without the drought.
Who knows... maybe one day they'll figure out a water pipeline??!!

It has been along time since we saw any rain, we really need some for the gardens.
