Mystery Purple fireworks flower!

    Hello all. This is one of the mystery flowers in my garden. It's beautiful and reminds me of fireworks exploding, but I have no idea what it is. Here's a photo.

    ooooh, is this one of those warm weather (climate) area plants?? Cuz I want one of these. I haven't seen very many of these aound here. This ia a very pretty flower.

    I think Toni's right. Yours might not be exactly the same as mine, but it's an Allium.

    Petunia, that is a rather hardy bulb, and I think you ought to try it. Alliums are a lovely family where most plant people can find something they like.

    Petunias, we have them up in Canada too. Like Droopy said, they are a hardy bulb.

    One of my favorites... but interestingly, I have not had luck with them in my yard -- haven't found quite the right spot for them I guess!

    A quick search through google images indicates that this flower is a flowering thistle. I have no verification of this, though.

    I have about 18 of them and plan on adding 20 more this year. They bloom early May here.
