Anyone know what peony this may be growing in my garden?
It's pretty, but not what was ordered 2 yrs ago :-?

Pedals are white with some purple streaking, very dull yellow center and very fragrant.

    Thanks for any help :stew1:

You've got a lovely peony there. I'm sorry I can't help you with a name. There are several lovely, white peonies. Some are very old and some are fairly new. I've got one looking a lot like yours. It's an heirloom plant from my husband's grandmother's garden. We don't know it's name.

Here are a few you might want to check out. I hope one of the names might ring a bell:

    - Denise
    - Avalanche
    - Fairy Dream
    - Festiva Maxima
    - Minuet
    - Mons.Dupont
    - Mad.de Verneville

Thanks so much for the names Droopy and Eileen :-D

I looked up every one of the names listed and the one that I thought looked the most like mine was Madame de Verneville. I don't know if it's an heirloom or not until I do a little more research.

The peony I ordered 2 yrs ago was I thought, 'Bowl of Beauty' (Good thing I have one already) I noticed the buds on this one were white, not pink, so somehow there was a mix-up. 2 yrs too late to exchange it....

Thanks a lot for your help :D

Stratsmom, you could try with only one I guess. Then you'll know. :D

I keep thinking that it's the Festiva Maxima, since that's very popular. The info "Miellez 1851" keeps popping up when I read about it, so I guess that's who made it and when it was made. There are many photos on the net and I just wish I had scratch'n'sniff on my PC.

The reason I am leaning towards 'Madame de Verneville' is not only from the photos, but also the description.
A few crimson flecks, rose scent with a hint of 'yellow" in the center. I didn't see any yellow with the Festiva unless I missed it.
Naming plants like hostas and peonies can be confusing since many can look very similar to another named plant :-?

I wait to take a cuttings after the flowers have already opened, so like Droopy suggested, you can try just one and see how that goes first :D
