Need help in making my shrimp pasta more "interesting&q Hi Everyone- I need help in making my shrimp pasta more "interesting". Here is what I put in: shrimp, pasta, fresh basil, onions, and garlic. Its simple but plain. Any suggestions?
Add bacon, take out the onions (I hate onions and they're not too fond of me), add bacon, grind on some fresh pepper when you serve it (pepper loses its zing if you add it to the mix and let it sit), and add bacon. Did I mention adding some nice, crispy bacon?
Shrimp, chicken, sausage, and more When I make pasta with shrimp in it I usually add some kielbasa sausage, green peppers, ground chicken, and sometimes some diced tomatoes in my sauce. It might sound like alot but the flavors will explode in your mouth.
Shrimp Pasta Molly, you might try drizzle olive oil over pasta and add fresh parsley. Saute the shrimp, etc in butter, after about 1 min., squeeze the juice of one lemon, (optional, add 1/2c white wine, chardonay (sp.) is excellent), Just before removing from heat, add 3 - 4 tablespoons capers. Put pasta on pasta bowl, spoon the rest over. Hope this sounds good, it is one of my favorites. Debra
when i make shrimp, i usually make a sweet hot red pepper sauce, like the little japanese red peppers mixed with sweet red peppers, mix this up with some olive oil, into a well blended semi paste. then dip the shimps into it an grill or fry. only takes a minute then they are done. add to pasta the way you usually make it but i would add the basil last, fresh on top of it all. have lime or lemon wedges if desired.
When I make shrimp pasta, I like a lot of color in it. Like small tomatoes, broccoli, fresh green beans, and I like to add thyme and of course garlic powder or some fresh garlic. I usually add whatever veggie I have in the refrigerator, even parts of a cucumber...enjoy...
I like to throw in some fresh lemon zest. It is so light and refreshing :-D I'm getting hungry just thinking about it! Deanna :-D
Yep, snow peas, sliced mushrooms or straw mushrooms ( fresh or canned),smoked red peppers (not the hot ones; the ones in a jar ( some people know them as pimentos) but NOT the ones packed in vinegar. You want the ones packed in water), fresh dill is wonderful, canned water chestnuts & bamboo shoots, soft sun-dried tomatoes, artichoke hearts (Packed in water; not vinegar), thin-sliced fresh scallions & aged, coarsely-grated parmesan are some delicious additions. Hope that helps.
In mine I saute halved cherry tomatoes in olive oil, add chopped garlic, shrimp, fresh basil leaves and when it's all done, I add parmesan cheese. (It's what I reeled my husband in with!)
