Hello lowside, Your plant looks like it could be one of the large hybrids of Spathiphyllum (commonly called "Peace Lilies") there are many hybrids available, from little tabletop minis to some with leaves measuring 2 feet long, or more. Have you ever seen the plant bloom? EDIT to add ~ Sorry, it took me a minute to remember the name, "Sensation" is the largest Spath variety that I am familiar with.
I think Zuzu is right about it being a peace lily. They need very little water and prefer to be kept out of direct sunlight.
They are great plants. They do not need or want very much light. If you go too long with out blooms give them more light or if the flowers are green instead of white give it a bit more light. They are very dramatic when you forget to water them. All the leaves lay down and the plant plays dead. You give it water and an hour later it will perk right back up. Water it only a little bit more than you would a cactus.
