My front yard slopes downhill away from the house. We have a mulberry tree that produces a lot of berries and they are all over the ground. for the past week we have had a doe deer come up a couple of times a day and gets berries off the ground. Well just a bit ago she brought a new fawn with her. The baby can't be more than a day or two old. He was running all over the yard investigating everything. He was moving so much, I couldn't get a good picture of him. Momma was content to munch berries and let him check out the yard!
When we went to town this morning a mama crossed the road ahead of us with two small babies. Aren't the so cute and adorable to watch? I drive very slow on our gravel road because you never know when they will cross in front of you. Mama came out and stopped and looked at us so I slowed down to a crawl and she must have called to them because they came out and crossed with her. We sat and watched them. dooley
I was visiting with a customer in my driveway just the other day and she said there was a deer out on the road. I turned around to look and it was a fawn trotting up the road...no doe to be seen. It trotted three doors up and finally went up their driveway, but I never did see a doe. I guess we all need to be vigilant now with the new fawns out and about. Be careful driving everyone.
Captain we also have many deer. They was very hungry last winter. Would eat apples we did not harvest. And come to under the bird feeders.
I always loved watching the deer even though they can do a lot of damage in the yard, now I just see them on the road since we moved. We have to watch out for turkeys and deer right now crossing the road...
Cap't, That must be fun to watch the little one. Keep trying to capture a good photo! I miss seeing the deer at our old cabin on the lake. I'll settle for some pics
We have a lot of deer in my area also. I love to see them, but they can get into traffic and get hurt or killed, and do a lot of damage to people's cars. A few days ago, there was one new baby fawn killed on the road near town. Poor Mother Deer. If there is an orphan fawn around, I hope she finds it and adopts it.
