Went to Tractor Supply Co. this morning and bought a rubber calf feeder. It's 12 in. in diameter and the sides are about 5 in. tall. I put a brick in the bottom of it and filled it with water. I have robins setting on the sides of it drinking and they hop down on the brick and splash around. I got the rubber one so that the coons can't break it. I put it down where the turkeys usually come through. This winter I'll put feed in it for the turkeys.

We love TSC too. Can you put a bird bath heater in one of those for the winter?

I doubt if the heater would work. Because of it being rubber. What was nice was that I only paid $6.29 for it.

Sounds like a smart solution, I'm certain your robins are happy with your new garden addition. :D

I'd love to see a piccie of the new bird bath and the newly stained decking CK. The birds are obviously enjoying having somewhere to drink and bathe. :stew1:

I have a brick in the bottom of it to keep the coons from tipping it over. It seems to have worked, there was dirt in it from where they had washed their paws, but still full of water.

With all the dry weather you've been having your bird bath must seem like a little oasis to the birds and animals that visit your property. :-D

Birds love it....they need water and will visit more if you offer it. I have a heated one for winter. Right now all the black birds are bathing in it..I try to keep it clean but the other birds fly up to it while the black bird bathes and get a drink...so they are not too fussy...thanks for sharing...Sherry

Those birds look very happy, Capt. I'm sure they'll be regular visitors.

Well at least it'll make a great bird bath, come spring. The turkeys aought to love it. It almost looks sort of deer proof.
