People have come from many places to see an Egret that has come to Victoria. I went to the area today, it's an area surrounded with houses etc but is a 64 acre wetland site. This is the area and an image of the egret. ( photo / image / picture from Kildale's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from Kildale's Garden )
i love the big birds......can't say i've seen an egret, but have seen plenty of herons....are they related?
What a beauty! I've never seen an egret in my life and would be willing to travel some distance to see one.
The area is fairly close, perhaps five minutes by car. Its still in the city. There was a stilt there earlier in the year. They say it is the best birding spot in Victoria. There are gadwals and bluewinged teal there and a few other wading birds including about 100 Pectoral Sandpipers and Spotted Sandpipers.
