Have a bunch of blooms now that it has finally stopped raining so much. Red and yellow Columbine. Yellow Comubine. Woodland Columbine. And yellow Alium.
The white fuzz that you see in some of the pics, is from the Cottonwood trees ( Popular). Two days ago they were releasing their seeds attached to the cotton, so bad it looked like it was snowing.
Great pictures Captain. Does the woodland columbine grow wild or is it a cultivar? Do you have problems with leaf miners in your Columbines? Jerry
Great pics, captain. I noticed the cottonwood fluff yesterday, I never even gave it a thought that that was what it was. thanks for the info....(I'll have to wash off the air conditioner later from it).
I like that yellow and red Columbine!,..never come across that one,..that yellow is also nice!,..but that's a wow,..the Woodland Columbine!. I would never have guessed just what that cotton fuzz was,..spiders i would have thought, .
Jerry, we bought the woodland columbine about 20 years ago, so it is a cultavar. Haven't seen it in stores since, but we love it. It only gets afternoon sun but seems to love it!
I love the woodland columbine. I bought mine several years ago too, and then never saw it again. I wonder if it would root from cuttings?
