My Scabiosa (Pincushion Flower) is blooming already. It is in the wheel barrow and still stayed green all thru the winter, figured it would have been too unprotected during the ice/snow and multiple below freezing days we had. But it has one flower in full bloom, one partial and one on it's way.

Scabiosa are such pretty flowers I don't know why more people don't grow them around here. I've always liked them and I see yours has more blooms still to come. They're such a lovely colour too. :-D

It doesn't look blue in that picture, guess it was the lighting. I also have some seeds for the Scabiosa Black Knight that I need to get started.

Phew thanks for saying that Toni, I was beginning to think my laptop (or eyes ) were starting to play tricks on me. It is a gorgeous bloom however whatever the colour.

Nice bloom Toni. I had forgotten I put some Scabiosa in last year until I saw that picture. I also have some seeds from a trade I did last fall, but no idea the best way to start them.

Prety Toni. I think I used to have one like that - don't remember seeing it last year.

I like that very much. I love the old fashoined plants. It has a great "cottage garden" look. 8)

I have always wondered how a flower with such an ugly name could be so gorgeous. Toni, it's almost impossible for a camera lens to see a blue flower. There is even a name for the effect, but I have forgotten it. Water lily photogs have a devilish time.
