We received a 2013 calendar from Audubon, which I will hang in the kitchen. I've been filling in the planting dates for the spring garden--January is the beginning of the vegetable garden for us, and I have a list of seeds I need to get into the ground around the middle of January.
Do y'all have "planting calendars" too?

I know I have to get the cucumber seedlings in the ground by April 1st or the heat will hit them before they can produce much of a crop, make them curl and taste bitter.

And plants and/or seedlings must be in the ground as early in April as possible so they have time to establish good roots before the water restrictions go into effect on April 30th. Anything that goes into the ground in May or later has less than a 50/50 chance of making it through the summer with the heat and watering limited to two days a week.

So I have to get my seeds ordered and the small greenhouse set up in the back room.

I did buy one this year. Usually I am winging it, but I decided to spend a few bucks on one geared towards our growing zone.
