Rich just bought me a Nikon Coolpix. So I'm learning all over again. So far it's a lot less complicated then my Fiji. But not sure if pic's are sharp enough. Your comments are very welcome as I have 60 days to return it if I don't like it. These pictures were zoomed in from about 15ft. away. Those pics look pretty good to me. It would be a good idea to take other types of pics as well...like landscapes and macro foto's. In evaluating, I would also go through the menu of possibilities and see what all the camera CAN do, and try some of the exotic tricks. Your camera ought to be able to tale small films as well. Portrait and flower settings may be available on your camera...try them all, then show them on here. How exciting for you, Donna.
I think your photographs look great Donna. As Sjeord says though try it out on lots of different settings and various subjects. Post your pictures here as I love when someone gets a new camera and we get to see the results. :-D
I know nothing about photography nor am I interested but I surely do enjoy beautiful photos and flowers. That you do have 'here' Donna S. Speaking for all us here, we would like to inspect more of your handy work. *HINT HINT*
Good for you Donna. I got a Kodak ezshare... I am not sure I really like it. I know the colors aren't "true" which rips me and I can't figure out how to get the "depth" on some flowers. I don't think that part is me, but the camera and it is way too late to return the camera. So, take lots of pictures to see if YOU like it, not just us. That is a pretty good picture for a 15' zoom. did you have take on a tripod? I can't get a picture worth anything on zoom. My shaky hand symbol is ALWAYS there.
I loved my Coolpix! It's a good little camera. If I might suggest something that I did when I got my new camera? I took one subject, (a ceramic frog on my back porch) and shot that same subject with every setting on my camera and then compared the results. That way I was able to become familiar with the different settings and how each setting affected the subject, and it was so much easier to make that comparison when the subject and the lighting and such were the same from setting to setting. That way, I knew it was the setting that was affecting the shot and not other ambient conditions. As far as the images you posted, they are lovely! But don't look as crisp as I would hope for with close-ups. But that could be the result of the setting(s) you used rather than the camera itself.
Those are from 15 foot away? That's pretty darn good and sharp for zooming in from that distance. I'm like the others... try close-ups, normal, landscape... day, night etc. I used the 'Stew when doing comparisons between my phone and camera... and no one seemed to mind... so go ahead... take lots of photos and post them here.
good pics Donna! I have coolpix and a Cannon slr but both are set at Auto mode for the past 4-5yrs. I just did not get the time to try the settings or go through the manual. Now, I am gonna follow the advice of fellow members here and try different setting myself . Thanks everyone and happy clicking!
Thanks all. Carolyn, I have always had better luck with close-ups if I don't zoom in and crop on the computer. Ronni, that is a very good suggestion. I even have a frog
Donna, Do you mean I should do the "zoom" by cropping after I take the picture? Call me "duh", but cameras are point and shoot for me. I am so not into figuring it out. If I had the other computer here I would load a picture so you could see what I mean on my inability to take a good picture. I know that taking a good photo is 99% ability and about 1% camera.
Yes that's what I mean. And I'm from the old school. Just give me an on and off button. The more bells and whistles the more confused I get.
