Our old HP printer quit working and I didn't know how to fix it and we've had it awhile so it's maybe not worth fixing anyway. So, we bought a Canon Pixma MG2120 for thirty-nine dollars today. I muddled through the instructions and got it installed and working. I'll figure out how each thing works as I use it because there is a tutorial for each part, print, copy and scan. I disconnected the HP computer and it's power cord and used the USB cord on the Canon printer. What I need to know now, is do I need to uninstall the software for the HP printer and do I need the installation disc if I do need to uninstall it.I have it and the book that came with it. I might see if I know anyone who knows enough to fix it and see if someone could use it. It has good ink tanks in it. dooley
Congratulations on your new printer. If you have no intention of ever using your old HP printer again, then you can uninstall the software. But if you dont mind the software hanging around in your computer, then just leave it. The installation disc is not required to unistall the software. Just go to the control panel and look in the program for the software and uninstall it. Good luck.
I have the exact same printer for a couple years now, and yes I would uninstall the old one and yes you need to use the disk it will install the drivers etc. Oh maybe I misunderstood, you do not need the old printer disk to uninstall.
