Well, wish us great fortune, please. We are getting a new puppy this week. This time we are getting a German Shepard. I sure hope this one is a better fit than the last one we had...That was a horrible experience. Will put up the pics as soon as we get her.

Congratulations! I can't wait to see her! I have had German Shepherds and love the breed. The dog I have now is only half Shepherd, but the next one will be a Shepherd again. Enjoy her :)

Frank, I have met some of the German Shepherds that were "big, lovable beast". I love to see that.

Carolyn, one of the joys of a puppy is that it is a puppy, and you can train it from the very beginning. German Shepherds are a wonderful breed--sturdy, loyal, fun-loving, and easy keepers.
I can hardly wait to see the pictures of your new family member. Cathy sure is lucky to get such a wonderful birthday gift!

How exciting! Mom had one when we were growing up. I don't think you could ask for a more loyal companion. Mom's dog Casey was a black one, I think they actually called her "German Police" been so long I don't remember

Thanks all for the encouragement. After the last dog I am very hesitant to get excited over her. I hope she grows on me. The female she is out of is not a large dog, I have no idea what the male dog looks like. I did go see her Monday night and she is the "typical" looking german shepard. She is the last of a litter of 11 puppies and I am still thinking "do I want to do this?" but, for my daughter, I will. See how long I took to even think about it? the $$$ was an issue, too. So when they have 11 to get rid of the cost starts dropping the longer you keep them...a blessing for me.

Another shephard lover here, we had a wonderful GS named Duchess when I was a teen. She was my pal. Good luck with yours, do you have an idea on names yet?
