I finally had the chance to start on the new flower bed at my family home.
Here it is after all the grass and weeds were dug out.

And then with the "starter" plants. Transferred my Texas Star from the container to here. And the same with a Sega Palm. Added a Red Double Dib Hibiscus (that I found on the mark down rack at Lowes).
And then the newspaper (hope I used enough) and the mulch. Watered it down and then...

on to the medicine cabinet for some aspirin because my back was killing me!
    :-o

Where the light grass/sod is there's drainage pipes... so couldn't use that space.
And it was starting to get dark, so I didn't get to trim it all up nice and pretty. But it's a start!

That was a lot of work, but the result is really, really nice looking. Nice selection of plants too, the reds will really stand out. What else do you have in mind to plant there?

Since I've been only doing container gardening for the last few years... I forgot how much work went into a "real" garden!
    :-D
Not certain about what's going to be next...kinda playing it by ear. Maybe some canna's?

Gosh you've been working hard - neither wonder your back was aching. It's looking great and I think it's certainly worth all the effort you've put into it. Well done!! :-D

I was going to comment on the shape of the bed too Strats!
You did a LOT of work there Cherylad -- it's no wonder your back was sore. That will be such a pretty spot when all done.

....and what a start it was too!
Cheryl, you did great. I kow what you ,ean about the muscles. Getting them back in working order after the winter pause is something that we all feel, I guess.

That is a good place for a bed and it has an interesting shape as well. You can be quite proud of yourself, I'd say. Well done, you!
